HobbyWing ESC Program Card

Usage: For Programming HobbyWing PENTIUM ESC’s Only – Not Compatible with Other Brand ESC’s, and not compatible with the Hobby Wing Platinum Series ESC's. If you are using the Hobby Wing Platinum ESC, please choose the Hobby Wing Professional Program Box - HW-PCPro.

Overview:

With HobbyWing’s Program Card, you can easily set the programmable value of any HobbyWing ESC for the brushless motor in use. Instead of fumbling with the boring & complicated process of programming an ESC via the transmitter, you can simply plug your ESC into the Program Card, and follow the easy & intuitive steps to properly setup your ESC. As small as  business card, the HobbyWing program card can be stored in your pocket for quick access when it comes to altering the program of your ESC – within 30 seconds, you’ll be set!

Setup:
Use the “up/down” button to select programming item, and use the “left/right” button to select the item value.
Brake: When the “Brake” is On, the motor will stop quickly after the throttle stick is completely lowered
Low Voltage Protection Mode (Cutoff Type): When “Soft-Cut” is selected, the ESC will reduce the output power gradually. When “Cut-Off” is selected, the ESC will immediately cut off the output power to motor when the ESC senses a low voltage condition.

Low Voltage Protection Threshold (Cutoff Voltage):
For Li-xx batteries (Li-ion or Li-poly), the number of cells are judged automatically - Low/Medium/High cutoff voltages of each cell are: 2.6V/2.85V/3.1V. For example: with a 3S 11.1V Li-Po battery,“Medium” cutoff voltage is 2.85*3=8.55V
For Ni-xx batteries (NiCad or NiMh), Low/Medium/High cutoff voltages are 0%/45%/60% of the startup voltage. For example: when a 10 cells NiMh battery pack is used, its fully charged voltage is 1.44*10=14.4V; when medium cutoff voltage is set, the cutoff voltage is : 14.4*45%=6.5V.

Music: 4 LED lights are used to show 16 possible options, representing 16 different rhythms. For an ESC that supports above 6S (22.2V) LiPo, these 4 LEDs are used to indicate the number of cells your LiPo pack has.
 
Connecting Process:
If your ESC has a built in “BEC,” ignore the 4.8V power option on the upper right hand of the card, and simply hook the ESC to the program card, and power up the ESC via the flight battery. Once the card lights up, you can begin the program functions.

If you have an ESC that has no “BEC,” plug the ESC into the program card, and then use your UBEC to plug into the 4.8V power adapter on the upper right hand of the card. Once the card lights up, you can begin the program functions.

Note: With both connection options above, be sure the ESC is plugged into the program card first before applying power.

Operation:
To program the values of your HobbyWing ESC, press the “up/down” button to scroll through the selected programs, and then use the “left/right” button to select the item value. As each item is selected, the “Flashing LED” will indicate the option selected. Once the values have been selected and the“OK” button is pushed to confirm these values, a “Blue LED” light will flash, confirming the data has been programmed. When the music begins to play, this will confirm that the ESC has been properly programmed with the selected values.
